What REGOLITH is
REGOLITH is a space exploration game by winch. Drive a six-wheeled rover across the far side of the Moon at one-sixth gravity, surveying an outpost that stopped transmitting 214 days ago. Ground-penetrating radar, a core drill, and wheels that cut real ruts into the regolith and then have to climb back out of them. Every texture, rock, star and sound is generated by code — the whole game is a 394 KB download with no asset files at all. It is a 394 KB download that loaded in 2.8s when we tested it and renders with WebGL.
REGOLITH: measured
We loaded REGOLITH in a real headless Chrome, played it, and recorded what it did. Blank cells are facts we could not measure, not zeros.
| Download | 394 KB | Total bytes fetched on first load. |
|---|---|---|
| Loads in | 2.8s | Time to the load event on a desktop connection. |
| Frame cost | 118 ms (~9 fps) — 7.0× over the 60 fps budget | Cost of one frame while playing, sampled in a headless browser with vsync off — so this is how long the game takes to draw, not the rate your screen refreshes. A 60 Hz display allows 16.7 ms; 95th percentile 178 ms. In-game, FREE SURVEY, driving forward. Sampled on an AMD Radeon 610M — a low-end integrated GPU — where the game's own adaptive resolution governor had bottomed out at its 0.62 floor, so it had no headroom left to give back. Read this as the low end of the hardware range, not as a verdict: the same build on a discrete GPU will be far faster, and we have not measured one. The menu, for contrast, ran at 46 ms. |
| Renderer | ANGLE (AMD, AMD Radeon(TM) 610M (0x0000164E) Direct3D11 vs_5_0 ps_5_0, D3D11) | What the game draws with. |
| Requests | 28 | Files fetched — a low count means a self-contained build. |
| On a phone | Fits a 390px screen | Measured in a 390×844 viewport. |

REGOLITH FAQ
Is REGOLITH free to play?
Yes. REGOLITH is free and runs in your browser at winchxyz.github.io — no download, no install and no account. It was made by winch.
What kind of game is REGOLITH?
REGOLITH is a space exploration game.
Does REGOLITH work on mobile?
It fits a phone screen — we measured no horizontal overflow in a 390×844 viewport. We did not detect touch controls, so a keyboard and mouse may still be needed.
How big is REGOLITH?
394 KB on first load, across 28 requests, loading in about 2.8 seconds.
Who made REGOLITH?
winch, using an AI coding agent. It is one of 56 games built this way that we catalogue and measure.
