Two decks · three restacks
Crescent
Eight foundations. Sixteen piles. Three chances to turn the tide.
How to play Crescent
Two decks supply eight foundation bases: an ace and king of each suit. Deal the other 96 cards into sixteen piles of six, exposing only each top card. The compact grid plays exactly like the traditional arc.
- Build the ace foundations up to kings and the king foundations down to aces, always in suit. Foundations never wrap.
- Move one exposed tableau card at a time onto a card of the same suit one rank higher or lower. Ace and king are adjacent on the tableau. Empty piles cannot be filled.
- A foundation’s top card may transfer to the opposite foundation of its suit if it fits. The original bases cannot move. Foundation cards cannot return to the tableau.
- Restack up to three times: move the bottom card of every nonempty pile to its top. The rest of each pile keeps its order.
Select a top card, then a highlighted destination. All 104 cards on foundations wins. Score counts cards currently on foundations, including the eight bases; transferring between foundations adds no points.
Keyboard: Tab between buttons, then Enter or Space to play. Published rules reference.
Questions
Does restacking shuffle the cards randomly?
No. It rotates each pile by one card, from bottom to top. Use the three restacks whenever you choose. Undo restores both the cards and the remaining restack count.
Do hints guarantee a win?
No. A hint suggests a legal move and avoids positions already visited, but it does not solve the deal. New games are random. The separate practice deal has a tested winning line.
