Open Source Arcade

16 games other people wrote and published as open source. We host copies so they stay playable, under the licence each author chose, with the source linked on every page. Free, no ads, no signup — and each one runs in a sandbox that cannot touch your data.

Who made these, and under what licence

Every game here is somebody else's work, redistributed under a licence that permits it. None of these authors submitted their game to us — we found them published openly on GitHub. If you are one of them and would rather not be listed, say so and it comes down.

What an open-source browser game actually is

A browser game is open source when its author publishes the code under a licence that lets anyone read, run and redistribute it. That is the whole reason this page can exist: we are not hotlinking somebody's game or scraping a portal, we are hosting a copy the licence explicitly permits, with the author's name and the licence on every page and a link back to the original repository.

It also means these games cannot quietly disappear. A game published to free hosting goes away when the account lapses or the author moves on, and the links pointing at it break. A copy hosted under its own licence keeps working.

No account, no download, no ads

Nothing here asks you to sign up, install anything, or watch an advert before playing. Every game is a single HTML file that runs in your browser, so it starts as fast as it downloads and works the same on a phone as on a desktop. There is no launcher, no client and no store page.

Why each game runs in a sandbox

These are programs written by strangers, and you should not have to trust a stranger's code to try a game. Each one runs inside a sandboxed frame with no access to this site's storage, your cookies, or anything else on the page — the browser enforces that, not us. The visible cost is that saves do not carry over between visits, and every game page says so rather than pretending otherwise.
