How to play Overnight Orbit

Launch your ship from planet to planet, landing cleanly on as many planets as possible before drifting lost in space.

You orbit a planet automatically after landing on it. Watch your ship arc around, then press your single button at the right moment to launch toward the next planet. Timing is everything — launch too early or too late and you'll miss.

Every planet you land on counts as one point toward your score. A planet only counts the first time you land on it, so you're always pushing forward to unvisited worlds. The chain of planets gets faster as your route grows, so your reaction time needs to keep up.

If you fly too far from any planet you'll be declared 'Lost in Space' and the run ends. Your score (planets visited) is shown, and if you beat your previous best it's flagged as a new record. Your best score is saved locally so it persists between sessions.

Press your button again on the game-over screen to immediately start a new run. There's nothing to unlock or configure — just chase a longer chain each attempt.

Overnight Orbit — FAQ

What is Overnight Orbit?

Overnight Orbit is a free browser game by Overnight Desk in which you control a ship with a single button, timing your launches to hop from planet to planet across a neon space field and build the longest chain you can.

How do you play Overnight Orbit?

Your ship orbits whichever planet you last landed on — press Space, click, or tap to launch toward the next planet. Land cleanly to add it to your score; miss everything and drift too far and your run ends.

What counts as a point?

Each planet you land on for the first time adds one point to your score. Revisiting a planet you've already landed on does not increase your count.

Does the game get harder over time?

Yes — according to the creator, each orbit gets faster as your route grows, so the window for a well-timed launch shrinks the longer your chain gets.

Is my high score saved?

Yes, your best planet count is saved in your browser's local storage, so it persists between sessions on the same device and browser.
